Vedic Planetary Positions & Transits

View geocentric planetary signs, Nakshatras, retrograde status, and estimated sign entry and exit times for a selected date. Sidereal results use the selected ayanamsa; Rahu and Ketu are calculated from the mean lunar node.

Date and time controls use Indian Standard Time (IST).

About planetary positions and transits

Review calculated planetary signs, Nakshatras, retrograde status, and estimated sign ingress and exit times. The calculator uses geocentric ephemeris positions for the Sun, Moon, and visible planets; Rahu and Ketu use the mean lunar node. Sidereal results depend on the selected ayanamsa, so transit times remain estimates.

Common questions

What is a sign ingress?

It is the calculated time a planet crosses from one zodiac sign into the next. The page also estimates the next exit from the current sign.

Why are transit times described as estimates?

Ephemeris precision, ayanamsa conventions, mean versus true lunar nodes, and the selected date and time convention can shift displayed ingress times. Use a specialist ephemeris when minute-level agreement is required.

What does retrograde mean here?

It indicates apparent backward motion against the zodiac from the calculator’s estimated geocentric positions.
